# What's still needed for laminas-hydrator v5 release?

I’ve been contributing to the ``5.0.x`` branch and would love to help more.  
Is there anything still missing or blocked before v5 can be released?  
Happy to help with whatever is needed.

A new major version would be good because it is one more step for [the support of laminas-servicemanager with version 4](https://github.com/laminas/laminas-servicemanager/issues/216). This part was also a [topic](https://github.com/laminas/technical-steering-committee/blob/main/meetings/minutes/2026-05-04-TSC-Minutes.md#speed-up-the-release-of-servicemanager-v4-support-in-downstream-packages-by-arhimede) of the last TSC meeting.

The [current milestone](https://github.com/laminas/laminas-hydrator/milestone/11) contains two open entries for the next major version.

1. This first one is important but maybe already finished:

But it is always a good idea to check other issue reports and pull requests to generally ‘clean up’ the repository. A comment here or there is enough, and then there’s even a report or pull request that can be closed.

[I have updated the documentation for version 5.](https://github.com/laminas/laminas-hydrator/pull/170) Do you see any other outstanding issues that need to be included?

There was an announcement in the Slack chat on Thursday, 17 September:

> Announcement: Proposed release of `laminas/hydrator@5.x` in the next 2 weeks.  
> Please add any objections/requirements to the repo as blockers if necessary…

New features can be added in a minor version following 5.0, so they should not pose a problem.
